(Are you already blogging? How long did it take you to get twelve followers?)
I am writing this blog for two reasons. The first I wanted to document that on this day I have 12 followers, an even dozen. I know several of them are personal friends, though several are people I have never met.
The second reason is for a little information. As a new blogger you may wonder if what you have to say will resonate with anyone. I have been watching many YouTube videos and many say that there are people out in the world that want to hear what you have to say and how you say it. They also say that as long as you are authentic, then keep sharing and advertising yourself and you will find like minded people.
If you are not being yourself two things can happen. First, you will get tired of blogging because you are trying to be something you are not. Second, many people can tell if you are a poser and will not want to follow you.
Have fun with your blog. If you do it in a way that is true to yourself then it will come across in your writing and you will enjoy the process much better Good luck.
For everyone who is following me. Thank you.
Are you already blogging? How long did it take you to get 12 bloggers?
(Have you had this problem?)
I have gone back to look through some past blog post and found that my pictures are not showing anymore. This has happened to me 3 times so far. All of my pictures are gone except for the last one I posted with pictures. This post was from 4 months ago. Strange!
It is now going to take me quite a while to go back through all my photos and find the ones I used on the different posts.
My advice: Put your all your pictures that you use for your blog into a Blog folder on your computer. That way if there is any problem you can go back and quickly find them and insert them again.
I have been trying to find why this keeps happening. So far no luck.
Have you had this problem? What is the fix or am I doing something wrong?
Missed Opportunities and Adventures
(What is or was your passion that you have followed? Where did it lead you?)
I have noticed that I go through phases in my life when I am really excited about doing or learning something, but then never follow through thinking that I will do it later. But then my excitement wanes and I end up not really wanting to do it. I often feel sad that I didn’t follow the passion when it hit me.
I am excited that when I thought about making a blog I went ahead and did it. I am very proud of myself. It would have been very easy not to try at all. It was hard and frustrating those first couple of weeks as I researched how to do one.
I have now thought of something else I wanted to look into and I almost talked myself out of it, but I decided to go for it. I am just looking to get more information though to do that I needed to reach out to someone. It was scary, may be a little embarrassing, and out of my comfort zone. Why should I let that stop me?
“It never hurts to ask.” Right?
I think I am going to try to follow these passions more often. Who knows where they will lead me or how much fun I am going to have along the way.
What is or was your passion that you have followed? Where did it lead you?
(How do you go about [or plan to] blogging something that takes several days?)
I am blogging about decluttering my closet, which I thought would take 2 days. That estimate was wrong. It ended up taking over a week. I wrote a blog paragraph to set up my project, then stopped and planned on writing the rest when it was done and then posting it.
Now I am trying to write it and find that the many moments and emotions are harder to convey because it happened many days ago. I would do a big project different next time.
Either I would write notes for myself along the way or add to the blog every night. I just know I missed many raw thoughts and emotions that I had during this process.
How do you go about [or plan to] blogging something that takes several days?
(What did you accomplish today?)
Today is Sunday and it is what I call chore day. It is the day I make sure all the cat boxes are thoroughly clean. I take out the bathroom and kitchen garbage. I also take out any recycling and yard waste that I haven’t taken out during the week.
Now usually I stall and don’t get this done till right before bedtime and even sometimes I get it ready, but don’t take it out till the next morning right before going to work. Today I had it done before noon. WOOHOO!!!
I was going to declutter an area in the kitchen. This small area ends up as a dumping ground. I got started by collecting the cloth grocery bags and taking them to my car. I know that if I didn’t do it right away I would just lay them somewhere else.
Where I live, my city doesn’t give plastic bags when you go shopping. Some stores have paper bags that you can buy. To not buy bags and to help the environment most people here carry cloth bags in their car for when they go shopping. The problem for me is that I bring them into my house full of items, though once empty they don’t seem to get back out to my van.
I knew I had to take them out right away. When I got to my van I remembered that I wanted to clean out the back seat. All the items behind the back seat got put into the back seat when I got a flat at Christmas. (Yes, it has been like that for 3 months). The weather was nice so I decided to do this clean up job right away.
Backseat full Empty
I did a couple more things with the kitchen pile, though found that some of it wasn’t mine and was not sure where to put it.
This is how my life goes…. I start on one project, but then get distracted and start working on another. The good thing this time is I didn’t make anything messier. You know how you start to declutter and the area looks worse before it starts looking better? I just didn’t finish the kitchen.
Proud of myself: Van backseat is cleared out
Chores got done earlier
Decluttered a tiny bit of the pile in the kitchen
I actually decided on wordpress for my blog
I signed up and am slowly learning how to use my page.
So hopefully in a few days these blogs will go live so all can read. YEA!!
What did you accomplish today?
(When has your enthusiasm not helped you?)
I wanted to declutter my house, though it is overwhelming and I could never get myself to do it for long. Then about 2 weeks ago I decided that if I blog about it and get some friends and strangers rooting me on I would be able to finally accomplish it.
While taking hours and days to figure out where to blog and then figuring out how to set up my blog page I noticed I was eating less. Ummm, I thought. I wonder if decluttering will help me lose weight, I decided to kind of keep track of my weight in a blog and see if there is a correlation.
Since I was just starting to blog maybe I should blog about starting a blog?
But there were real life situations that will come up and since my site is titled ‘Inside Diane’s Life’ maybe I should blog about my life also.
Am I taking on too much? Losing focus? Getting distracted? Sounds like how my regular life goes.
I am going to try to mostly focus on decluttering, but take a break off and on and blog about the other topics. I also just decided I want to make some projects out of wood and may start a blog. I have gotten out of control.
Stay with me and see if I can manage my enthusiasm.
When has your enthusiasm not helped you?
(What was the most frustrating thing to you while setting up your blog?)
Today I was trying to figure out how to set up the menu on my site. It took forever or what seemed like forever. It actually took about an hour. I am reading two different instructions to try to understand the concept. I thought I did it right, though after pressing the add to menu button I head to my website and nothing has changed. I go back and read some more and try again.
After making frustrating noises and gestures a half hour later I finally decided to give up and work on something else. I go to leave the page and it says that I will lose my work because it was not saved! I FORGOT TO PRESS THE SAVE BUTTON!!!!!
My husband who programs computers really gave me a hard time. He saw how I struggled and all for not pressing a save button.
Have I mentioned that computers and I are not the best of friends? Well, I am going to do this blog and not give up.
The feeling of success is WONDERFUL. The part of the menu I was fiddling with is working just like I imagined it would. I am so proud of myself.
What was the most frustrating thing to you while setting up your blog?
I have decided to quit blogging. April Fools.
I know you will read this past April 1st because I haven’t decided where to put my blog yet. I now know how I want it to function, though not sure whether to buy my own website or go to a free blogging system which will give me less freedom.
I am still investigating.
I worked today and Saturday afternoons is for my family, though again today I washed dishes. I can’t tell you how good it feels to just do that. I also washed out our coffee pot which had coffee stains on the inside. It is so pretty.
That is it for today. Have a good night.

I have been thinking about decluttering for quite a while now. Many many decades in fact. Yes, I had bouts of cleaning and organizing and even giving a few things away, but most of the time it just got recluttered.
Last year I worked a week on my pantry, which is a walk in, and I am still very proud of it. It does get cluttered, but it really starts to bother me and I get in there and tidy up. It is my proudest section of the house.
Though recently I am now starting to feel like I can really do it. As in I can really start getting rid of things. Things I hold on for sentimental reasons, like a broken cassette tape that my ex said he expressed his feelings on when he wanted me back, but he broke the cassette before I could listen to it. I had kept onto it hoping to fix it and listen to it. Though now being married for 27 years it feels like I can get rid of it….. if I could find it.
I have been watching the trend toward tiny houses and also the minimalist movement. I know I do not need everything I own and everything I own is not making me happy. I want to be happy when I get home, feel relaxed and feel proud.
So about 1 week ago I started to binge watch decluttering videos on youtube. These are the ones I have connected with:
The Minimalist (learned about them about 4 months ago)
Gayle Goddard (She has a decluttering Meetup in Texas that she video tapes)
Home Organizing by Alejandra (She has a decluttering system you can buy, though if not I like her because she mentioned that she got depressed by her clutter. She knows it is hard.)
ClutterBug ( I like her energy. Seems very down to earth and I loved the rants she goes on…. at least the ones I have seen)
Break the Twitch ( I have only watches 2 videos, though he mentions at not only is physical clutter a problem, but also other clutter. Like checking your phone or computer a lot to check your social media and losing hours of productive time. I look forward to watching more of his.)
Peter Walsh (He has a 31 days to get organized challenge.)
Life is Organized (like her presence and she also talks about reaching goals in general.)
These have helped me feel like I can do this. I also like to journal and I think journaling my progress will help me to keep going forward. I also hope to put this in a blog and be able to talk to people in my situation and who is starting on this adventure of getting their house in order.
